It may not look like it, but I'm a survivor of domestic abuse. I grew up around domestic violence all my life. Although I am healthy and happy today, I am well aware that there are many women, maybe even one next to you at work or church, who are experiencing verbal, emotional or physical abuse at home. I had no outward signs of abuse. But my husband would lock me in the bathroom, call me a bitch while I was on the phone with my mother or girlfriend, and push me down. I lived with it because I was too afraid to leave. And then one day he bought a shotgun, parked it next to the front door. That's the day I left. This campaign is dedicated to every woman who is looking for a way out, who is looking to find herself again, or for the first time. This campaign is dedicated to my wonderful mother, Annie Pearl Monk, who dealt with her own share of domestic abuse. May she rest in peace. This campaign is dedicated to the woman who is on the verge of greatness and needs a helping hand and encouragement to get there. Join me this Women International Day Mary 2016 in supporting women who are ready to break the silence and pattern of abuse and experience a life full of love, support and freedom!
