We are the women of Temple Kol Emeth, united in a sisterhood (and Sisterhood) that brings us friendship, sharing, and opportunities to give to others - all within a Jewish context.
What do we do, exactly? Sometimes it's easier to ask what we don't do!
*we provide the tent and lovingly prepared food for the Rosh Hashanah oneg, as well as the apples and honey worshippers receive after services
*we periodically host the wine-and-cheese gathering before Shabbat services
*we (wo)man the food booth sponsored jointly with the TKE Men's Club at Noshfest each year
*we create legendary Purim mishloach manot baskets and help friends send New Year’s greetings to each other
Funds raised through the Purim and Rosh Hashanah projects, as well as from our annual Dinner@8 feasts and WRJ Rents, are directed back to the congregation. They pay for:
*WRJ donations to the annual High Holy Day Campaign and Avodah Award evening, as well as other Temple fundraisers
*scholarships and grants, food and t-shirts, for our school and youth groups *the Rabbi's endeavors, like dinners for college students home for the holidays
We reach out beyond TKE, too. WRJ women:
*cook for the Zaban Shelter for Homeless Couples
*pass the plate for Give-a-Gobble, to provide Thanksgiving dinner for the less fortunate
*collect new and gently used shoes during our annual Shoe-Shoe Train, for women and children around Atlanta
*lunches, toiletries, quilts... made, collected, given with love to those in need
But there's so much more than collecting money and goods! We WRJ women celebrate Passover with a women's seder and Chanukah with a gift swap; we bake challah with each other and our daughters; we mark Rosh Chodesh quarterly and discuss magazine articles at our Lilith Salon. We play and study with like-minded women in WRJ affiliates across the SE District and around the US.
