Two Weeks - I could use your support!
February 25, 2018
BENEFITING: HUMANITY FIRST USA
EVENT DATE: Jul 19, 2016
My name is Irene Ameena, and I'm a high school junior from Texas. This summer, I am hoping to volunteer with the 100% volunteer-based charital organization Humanity First on their Gift of Health campaign in Guatemala. In July, for one week, I plan to volunteer with a free women's medical camp there, to help impoverished Guatemalan women better understand and treat their health care needs. I hope to help conduct interactive workshops to share information addressing the needs and interests of Guatemalan women, like cervical & breast cancer, family values, domestic violence, nutrition, etc. The camp also offers cervical and breast cancer screenings and medicines for any health need.
Although I will probably be the youngest volunteer there, I am so excited to make as big of an impact as I can on the lives of women who are unable to get the healthcare they need and deserve. Most charities will tell you they're nonprofit, but after years of working with Humanity First I know that it is 100% run by volunteers who devote time, energy, and out-of-pocket expenses to bettering the lives of others. It's a grassroots organization and the people who work with it are all so incredibly compassionate and devoted to their causes. Gift of Health is just one campaign. As a young woman, I feel I have a duty and a responsibility to help my fellow underpriveleged females. Health is so incredibly important, and I am so excited to help these women.
I'm hoping to raise $1500 by July to help me pay for the volunteer fees (stay, food, travel, etc.). I would be so thankful for a donation of any amout to help me fund this volunteer trip. It would be helping me travel and touch the lives of women, and help them take better care of themselves in every way possible.
Thank you so much for your support!
