BENEFITING: HUMANITY FIRST USA
EVENT DATE: Nov 08, 2016
In 2016, we are fortunate enough to have the knowledge and technology to prevent and treat numerous health conditions. But many of these health conditions, especially those affecting women, are still a problem in third-world countries. Diseases such as pelvic infections, cervical cancer, and diabetes are often left undiagnosed and untreated due to the lack of education and resources.
Humanity First is a volunteer-based organization that serves disaster struck and socially disadvantaged individuals and families in the poorer communities in the world. During this November's Women's Health Camp, I will be joining Humanity First to serve over 1000 women in Guatemala by not only educating them on vital topics such as Women's Nutrition, Domestic Violence, Mental Health, and Cervical and Breast Cancer, but also by providing free screenings for diseases and infections and free treatment to those who need it.
So what can you do to help?
Donate. Even the smallest donation can make an exponential impact on someone's life. All donations will go directly to Humanity First and will be used towards antibiotics, pain relievers, medical supplies, and camp logistics.
Here are some examples from our medication and supply list that your donation would cover and impact:
$40 buys azithromycin, treatment for chlamydia for 75 women.
$55 buys enough iodine to check for suspicious cervical cells for over a hundred women
$65 dollars buys enough speculums for over 100 women's exams
$100 buys 100 women one treatment for candidiasis
$130 buy calcium supplements for 2 months for 16 women who are breastfeeding or pregnant.
Other things we provide:
FREE cervical cancer screenings and pelvic exams
FREE breast exams
FREE treatment for common vaginal infections and STIs
FREE general medications like pain pills, supplements, and contraceptive/hormonal regulative medications as needed
FREE advice and consultations with nurses and local doctors
FREE blood pressure checks and anemia and glucose testing as needed.
Donating through crowdrise is simple, fast and completely secure. Thank you for your love and support! I hope that my experience in Guatemala will enable me to be a caring and dedicated student throughout medical school, and 4 years from now a compassionate physician.
With lots of love and prayers,
