Women's Shelter (Women With A Cause)
Organized by: LaShawn Keitt
Last year in the United States nearly 18 million women lived in poverty. WWAC is a community residence that provides shelter to women who would otherwise be homeless. The population of women served consist of domestic violence survivors, seniors, and those living with various disabilities. These women often face extreme barriers to obtaining self sufficiency, and without the housing stability such sufficiency would be unattainable. WWAC provides safe empowering living environments where women share a private home and are given the opportunity and support necessary to rebuild themselves, reunite with their families and reintegrate into the community independently. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances the community residence lost its lease, and has to relocate. Without the support of concerned citizens, these women will once again become homeless. The loss of such housing stability would be traumatic and damaging. It's our hope that everyone reading this story will be compelled to help the less fortunate in this time of need. The money raised will be used to secure a new housing location. Consisting of the 1st months rent, a months security, and a brokers fee.
