BENEFITING: Women's Foundation Of Genesee Valley, Inc.
Girls and women of the Rochester region are disproportionately affected by poverty. The Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley was formed in 1994 with a mission to promote economic self-sufficiency for women and girls through grant making, education and advocacy. We are a 501(c)(3) organization serving the more than 1 million people living in Monroe and the surrounding counties (Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Wayne, Yates). We award grants to programs making a real difference in the lives of women and in the future of girls. Increasing a woman’s ability to support herself and her children is the primary goal of our grant making.
Money raised through our George Eastman Museum PhotoFinish 5K fundraiser will help the Foundation award $100K in grants this year, as well as expand our Girls’ Initiative Program- comprised of our Girls' After School Literacy Program, Voices of Experience Program, and Girls' Grant Making Committee, allowing the Women's Foundation to be part of a network of community organizations, whose goals are to provide good women role models and break the cycle of poverty for girls. Together, we will, Make Every Woman and Girl Count!
