BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 07, 2016
I am beyond excited to have the incredible opportunity to travel to the northern region of Ghana this December as a Field Representative for Saha Global. I will be working with a village in Ghana to set up a water filtration business for the community. I will train community-appointed women to use alum (a material used to remove sediment from the water) and chlorine (which kills harmful organisms in the water) to treat the water from a local dugout. Women entrepreneurs will sell the water for a nominal fee to members of the community thus creating a sustainable business for the women and providing affordable, clean water for the entire village. In addition, I will be educating the community on water, sanitation, and hygiene.
The funds will pay for the start-up cost of a village’s new business. The funds raised will cover the cost of the treatment equipment: large drums to hold the water during various stages of the process, taps, chlorine tablets, etc. We will also be providing each household with a safe storage container to store water and prevent recontamination.
What you need to know:
40% of the population in Northern Ghana lacks access to clean drinking water!
People are currently drinking fecally contaminated water. (a major culprit of communicable diseases such as cholera!)
Saha Global has launched 74 clean water businesses to date. 100% of these businesses are still in operation today!
What you can do to help:
Any little bit helps. I can’t do this alone! I will build the water filtration system, train the women, and educate the community, but I need you to get me there and provide the resources! To avoid transaction fees send a check with my name (Kayleigh Moss) in the memo to:
