Wood bison are the largest land mammals in North America and few people outside of the Yukon have heard of them. This photo shows 3 calves. See more
BENEFITING: Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and the Alaska Department of Fish & Game work together on a joint restoration initiative to reintroduce the largest land mammal back into Alaska's wilderness after 100 year absence. Wood bison were nearly hunted to extinction in the early part of last century and thanks to some enterprising, conservation- minded individuals and organizations they will soon, with your help, be restored to parts of their native range in the interior region of Alaska.
