Woodbridge International's Social Committee Needs Your Help!
Organized by: Alexander Olapade
International and Domestic Friends, Woodbridge International has provided a platform for Harvard's International Community to express itself since 1994. We believe the path to more creativity, more innovation, more friendship, more peace is multicultural engagement, socially, academically and extracurricularly. This year's board has an expansionary vision for Woodbridge and the international community at large. First, we are finding new ways for our community to express itself. Last spring, we engaged with professors, threw the unprecedented "Alors On Danse" party, collaborated with international organizations across Boston and laid the groundwork for even larger projects in the near future. In August, we brought the freshmen together during a wildly successful Freshman International Program. Our Social Chair, using samples and lyrical ideas provided by numerous internationals, from Freshmen to Seniors, produced the song "#INTERNATIONAL" which reflects international's experiences coming to America and proved that there are many creative ways to celebrate this community. This Fall, we plan to continue this good work. We have just begun seeking corporate financial sponsorships to expand the social possibilities for our community. Further, last year we had DJ Alexander Padei provide equipment and music for events on a volunteer basis. We have now connected with even more artists, both electronic and acoustic, to diversify the musical experience at our events. We plan to expand our intercollegiate conversations, seeking larger collaborative social opportunities for this Fall and Spring. Despite all this, we could use your help. Woobridge's annual Back To School party demonstrates the deep commitment Social Committee has to developing international social ties on Harvard Campus. If done well, it raises interest among Freshmen in JOINING Social Committee and thereby lays the groundwork for nearly all events in the future. This years party features an intercollegiate blend of 3 DJs and a Singer/Songwriter spread across three floors in Senior House. Two of these acts will be exclusively releasing new music at the event. We are excited that the venue, sound equipment, music acts and lighting are nearly all being provided for on a volunteer basis. It's yet another example of the deep bond between Internationals on Harvard Campus. Woodbridge Social Committee believes in the importance of this social event. If we can raise $400 among this beautiful community, we will be able to match the entertainment hype with the food, water and drinks we need to make this party the most memorable Back To School event in years. Any extra money will go directly back to Woodbridge Social Committee events and the proliferation of the BEST INTERNATIONAL YEAR AT HARVARD, EVER. Warmly and Humbly, Woodbridge Social Committee
