I Run to Protect Orphans
Last year I never thought I'd complete my first half-marathon, let alone sign up to do it again this year! The feeling of crossing that finish line last year, knowing God was with me every step and every mile of the way was like none other. It brought me to tears. This year I actually got to personally meet and hug 35 of the orphans that live in the orphange we run for!
I am running to help raise awareness and funds for the Akha House of Light orphanage. Persistent stealing of children for human trafficking is devastating for this poorest of poor people. The Akha House of Light orphanage provides love, care, and protection for Akha orphans.
Working with refugee Akha Christians in Thailand, my church, Woodside Bible Church, formed an orphanage to provide shelter, care, and education, reflecting the love and hope of Jesus Christ. Woodside Runners have joined to raise funds and awareness for the protection of orphans.
Combined, we hope to raise one hundred thousand dollars for these kids! As individuals, we are all committing to try and raise at least $1,000. Would you consider helping me in this cause?
By supporting Woodside Runners, you will help us protect orphans. Our goal is to engage as many people as possible and share the needs of Akha orphans.
Thank you for your support!
The race is October 18th in downtown Detroit. Come and cheer us on!
