A little background- Woodside Bible Church built the Akha House of Light Orphanage in Thailand ten years ago for the purpose of rescuing children from the horrible sex trafficking business going on in Bangkok. We now have rescued 60+ children. The Woodside Runners, which I'm now proud to be a part of, are raising money to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate these boys and girls, but most importantly, to let them know how much our Lord Jesus Christ loves them.
Why I chose to run the Detroit Marathon- I have spent the last two weeks with four Akha children who live at the ophanage. These boys, each with their own story of how they came to the orphanage and what God is doing in each of their lives today, have left a lasting impact on my life. This was quite possibly a once in a lifetime experience for the children and I was blessed to be a part of it. My heart was moved to be a part of what God is doing in Thailand from the second that 35 children and 6 adults walked off of the charter bus at the Troy campus. The fact that God provided the means for all of them to be here is incredible in and of itself. But now that they have left and are back in Thailand at the orphanage, it is time to do something about what God is stirring in my heart. The furthest race I have ever ran is 10 miles. I have been told that if I can run 10, then I can run 26.2. With that being said... To God Be The Glory EVERY Step Of The Way.
My goal is to raise $1,000 to help these kiddos and hopefully rescue even more. Please know that 100% of your donation(after a small processing fee) will go directly to helping these children.
Thank you and God Bless!
