A Mother's Tale of a Life Changed
August 08, 2017
Remember when you took Driver's Ed? Now, compare that to a Ferrari Driving Workshop and you'll have an idea how advanced World Access For The Blind's Perceptual Navigation Training is compared to traditional Orientation and Mobility for blind persons.
We teach blind students of all ages to see with sound using cutting-edge science that's been proven and validated in recent studies. Our methods activate the visual cortex - the part of the brain used for sight - and add new layers of perception that enable a blind person to light-up their world in extraordinary ways.
But we can't keep up with the demand. We need to train and hire more instructors, and build our tuition scholarships for students with financial need because our services are not covered by insurance or Medicare.
That's where your donation can make a tremendous difference in liberating blind children, teens and adults from a life of marginalizing dependence and lowered expectations.
As WAFTB student Michelle McCready says, "These skills are things that blind people typically don’t have access to. It’s one of the most empowering experiences I’ve ever had of my life - it’s absolutely changed my life. I no longer worry about traveling, I no longer wonder how to get things done, and I now want to do things with my life that I could never have dreamed of doing before.
It occurs to me, that if we can make this available for more and more people, it could revolutionize how we train blind people and it could revolutionize how blind people function in the world."
Be the spark that lights-up the opportunity for a blind person to see in a new way. Please donate today or start your own fundraiser for World Access For The Blind. THANK YOU!
