Vero WLDC Take 2
Organized by: Veronica Orozco
December 13, 2016
Last year I began pushing my dance training into competition mode. I did a small local competition and with a lot of support from friends and family, I was able to take the stage at the World Latin Dance Cup (WLDC).
The WLDC is an international competition held in Miami, FL. Dancers from all over the world gather for this week-long event to compete in at least one of more than 90 different divisions of dance. While my partner and I didn’t come home with any trophies, I did come back with a desire to work even harder.
This year, I’ve been fortunate enough to find eleven other people who want to work just as hard. Tumbao de Omambo, my salsa team, has qualified to represent Omambo Dance Project in the amateur team division this year. As an added bonus I get to do this with my regular dance partner!
The team has been training together for three months already and have a little less than three more months until we take the stage. We’ll be hosting team fundraisers to help cover some expenses but as many of you know, dancing at this level quickly adds up. Here is the estimated cost breakdown for this event:
- Airfare: $325
- Hotel for 7 nights (December 12-19): $450
- Event registration: $125
- Costume: $300
- Training sessions/studio fees: $450
- Meals/Incidentals: $350
Any and all donations are appreciated! If you can’t give right now, please consider sharing my link. Please subscribe to my updates to find out about other fundraisers and training updates.
