World Youth Day 2016
Organized by: Sarah Rahilly
Hi, My name is Sarah Rahilly, I am a sophomore at Wyoming Catholic College. I am fundraising and hoping to go to World Youth Day in Poland from July 25 -31. World Youth Day is a worldwide pilgrimage for Catholic youth; there are over 2 million people expected to attend. Please check out the website at www.worldyouthday.com for more information. It is an incredible opportunity to share the love of Christ with people around the world and be a witness to the Catholic faith. I am very excited to have an opportunity to travel to Krakow, Poland, with Silwia’s group from Lawrence, MA. Two religious sisters from the Children of Mary in OH and several people who are discerning a vocation to religious life are also part of our group. Just a few days ago, I was asked to accompany the group to minister as the group’s “nurse” since I am certified in first aid, CPR, and experienced in wilderness survival. There will be approximately thirty people in our group and we will be living very simply like Franciscans. We will be sleeping on the floor or under the stars and backpacking at least 10 miles per day. There will be many sacrifices and challenges along the way. I am praying that I can fulfill Silwia’s request to serve these pilgrims as many have never been out of the country or experienced the rigor of a pilgrimage. I am very excited to have this opportunity to encounter Christ, strengthen my Catholic faith, help others, meet and experience many cultures and people. However, the reality is that I am a hardworking college student and my funds are extremely tight. Since this request for my help was last minute, I cannot fund this trip alone; I need your help. In order to make this trip possible and to fulfill my mission to serve others and spread the good news of Christ, I need to raise 2,500 dollars really quickly. I need to purchase my airline ticket in the next few days and pay for the pilgrimage shortly thereafter. I am very grateful for whatever gift you are able to give; every amount helps me reach my goal and if you are unable to help financially I humbly ask for the gift of your prayers. Please send me your prayer intentions, and I will bring them before Pope Francis. Your generosity will not be forgotten, and I will carry all any benefactors’ intentions to Poland. Thank you for your time and support please know you will be in my prayers, my thoughts, and my heart. God bless, Sarah "Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve You as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost." (Saint Ignatius of Loyola).
