THE STORY:

Mike Steele wrote -

Most of my friends and family know that I was in a terrible car accident in April of 2015. I ended up breaking my neck "C2", and sustained a traumatic brain injury. The outcome of that accident could have very easily meant my death, or at the least paralysis from the C2 break. For whatever reason, I was given a second chance at life. After 2 years of recovery and therapy; about 90% of my brain function is now back, and the neck is completely healed without any loss of function. The fact that I'm "still here", and actually in the best shape of my life; I figured I needed to put myself to use and help out others who may be in need. I've decided to compete in the Worlds Toughest Mudder in November, which is a 24hr obstacle course race. I'll be attempting to do 50 miles over the 24hr period, and would like to donate my run to Houston Children's Charity. I'm setting a goal of raising $10,000 for their charity, but feel I'm really hoping to do better. They're a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Greater Houston's underprivileged, abused, and disabled children who have otherwise been left behind. Since 1996, through an array of capital and support, HCC has provided program services for over 300 agencies and more than 1,500,000 children. They offered many awesome programs to help those in need. For more info on some of their amazing programs for kids, check out their website at www.houstonchildrenscharity.org
