As a competitive tennis player since I was 10 years old, I feel fortunate to have done almost everything in the tennis world: I have been ranked in the top 4 in Spain (my home country) and have played with the Spanish national team as a young teenager in the age groups of 14´s and 16´s. I came to the US shorty after turning 17 (Tampa, Florida). I played in the World Junior Championship in the Orange Bowl in Miami (for 18´s) assuring me a top 100 world Junior ranking, and then I won the Florida State championship in High School before I was recruited by Michigan State on a full athletic scholarship. I played #1 singles and doubles for most of my college tennis career at MSU. I played in the ATP tour where I earned a ranking of 600 in the world before I joined the workforce in International Market Development and started to raise a family working in the US and Mexico for the following 8 years.
I began to play competitive tennis again in the last 10 years while living back in Spain. I moved to beautiful Traverse City, Michigan (northern Michigan) at the end of 2012 where I continue with my career in International Market Development at Binsfeld Engineering, and I teach part time at the beautiful Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. In the summer of 2015, I had the opportunity to play in the Spanish National Championship for +50 held in my hometown of Alicante... and I won it! That gives the right to play with the Spanish National Team in the World Championships held in Helsinki, Finland in June 2016.
So playing in this event will allow me to fulfill one of my dreams: to play in a World Championship with the national team! (my next objective: Rio Olympic games (just kidding!).
I have been preparing hard for the World Championships by playing some ITF´s tournaments (International regulated tournaments). Mexico, Canada, Portugal and Spain are on the agenda before Helsinki. I currently have an international ranking of #17, after my last victory in Portugal! 4 ITF´s tournaments and 4 wins, I want the streak going...
International traveling is expensive: airfares, hotels, rental cars, meals, registration fees. And that is why I am asking for your generosity in trying to subsidize some of these costs so that you can also be part of my dream in preparing and competing in the World Championships in Helsinki with the Spanish National Team!
