With Your Help, We Can Make It Happen!
My husband, Clarke, and I have been working to create a global open source community called World Tree Circle. This website will highlight the similarities people share, despite the distance between us and the differences in our cultures, while still celebrating the traits that make us unique and special. The website is entirely open source in order to make it as user friendly and dynamic as possible and the translation software will allow users with mastery over multiple languages to contribute to the software by correcting any errors in grammar or usage.
This website is huge, and will help bring the United States more firmly into the global community by eliminating the language barriers most Americans face. Unlike other countries that speak two or more languages fluently, many average Americans can only speak English. This prevents us from reaching out to people around the world with similar interests because learning another language takes so much time and effort that we either don’t have, or are unwilling to give. World Tree Circle will be the perfect place for us all to meet on more common ground and share our ideas, thoughts, and knowledge.
The site will include a question and answer board, divided by regions, to allow us to direct our questions to people who live and breathe the cultures and in the countries we are curious about - be it for travel, education, or simple curiosity about the world and its inhabitants. Plus, users can request “sun rays” about the topics they are most interested in so their feed is very personalized, and there's no need to know anyone before “friending” them either. The whole point is to make new friends around the globe!
We have a very basic platform ready, all we need are the funds to pay for the hosting and open source programmers, coders, and web designers pick up where our Western Carolina University students left off and complete the beta site for us all to start trying out.
We are also planning a promotional trip for next summer!
Clarke is soooo passionate about making World Tree Circle a reality for the benefit of all humanity, that he is going to run and bike approximately 4,600 miles across the United States spreading the news. I, and our two children, will follow in an RV with all his gear and act as his support crew. Along the way will are going to stop in 16 cities to speak with representatives from 21 different cultures about the similarities and differences we share. This will be the start of the ongoing conversation for World Tree.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! This website, though simple for the users, is pretty involved and we need people like you, passionate about bringing people closer together around the world, to donate as much as you can to make it happen.
Inspired by Forrest Gump, Clarke is undertaking the epic running and biking trip next summer, June 13 to Aug 3, 2016, to help you and I get the word out. In order to make it a success and make sure he stays strong and healthy along the way there is specific gear and travel expenses we have to cover too.
Please donate and help us spread awareness about the need for better global communication to make World Tree Circle more than just a great idea - it can help bring us all closer together. Join the Coversation!
