The Lakeshore Professional Voice Center is located in St. Clair Shores, MI. It is led by an expert voice team consisting of Adam Rubin, M.D., a laryngologist, and Cristina Jackson-Menaldi, PhD, a voice pathologist. They specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all voice disorders. .
World Voice Day is April 16th. It is an internationally celebrated day to celebrate the voice and raise vocal health awareness. Voice problems can cause physical and emotional problems. They can interfere with one's livelihood and be a sign of major medical problems. Dr. Rubin, a singer himself, and Dr. Menaldi host an annual concert in honor of World Voice Day. Most of the performers are patients who have lost and recovered their voices.
The National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association (NSDA) promotes research, awareness, and support for people living with spasmodic dysphonia (SD). SD is a focal form of dystonia, a neurological voice disorder that involves spasms of the vocal cords causing interruptions of speech and affecting the voice quality. SD can cause the voice to break up or to have a tight, strained, or strangled quality. NSDA is comprised of people, health care professionals, volunteers, friends, and families. It is the only organization dedicated solely to the SD community. To learn more about NSDA, please visit their website by clicking here.
In honor of World Voice Day, we are continuing our efforts by raising money for the NSDA. Please help us raise money to support research for this debilitating disease.
