Save World War I Vet Tom Kelly Historic Land
Organized by: Sonya Polydor
Please help with saving this beautiful Historical Commercial Rural Land in Katy Texas! This land was bought by Private Tom Kelly born in 1886 a World War I Veteran that served under General Patton at the Alamo.
After the war known to us as (Papa)Kelly took the money he earned from being in the service and bought this historic land to retire as a Rice Farmer in Katy, TX with his family. Tom Kelly was also a Deacon of the First Black Church of Katy now known as Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He helped build the church and helped many people in the community.
In the past 40 years this land has been used as an illegal dumping site for companies in the Houston, Katy area.
I'm trying to help keep and save this land in order for the veterans and seniors to have a place to come visit, relax & enjoy with their families as an a way of showing my respect & honor for what my great-grandfather has worked and fought so hard to obtain and keep. I believe Papa Kelly would be proud & honored to know that all of his hard work and dedication has not been in vain.
