BENEFITING: LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
My goal is to raise money to create a free photography studio for cancer patients and their loved ones in a local hospital, and I will tell you why... My brother, Brian, was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age. I remember at that moment fully comprehending the phrase 'at any moment, life can dramatically change.' From then on, I cherished every moment I had with him. After my brother's initial diagnosis many others in my family or circle of friends were also diagnosed with various different types of cancer. This includes my cousin who was only a year old at the time of his diagnosis. I now know and understand just how important these memories are and what a beautiful gift it is to document these memories through photographs. My goal is to raise enough money to create a pop up photography studio for cancer patients and their loved ones that is no cost to them. With cancer treatment costs being so high or patients being unable to leave the hospital it is a rare occasion that patients and their loved ones can afford these opportunities to capture life moments in a photography studio. My hope is that by creating a free photography studio families will be able to capture their memories together. This can help to cope with loss, act as a way to honor their image, and help individuals deal with their change in appearance. This will become a place where they can transform their experience through programs like photoshop, and a way to honor my loved ones who have inspired me to create this photography studio.
