BENEFITING: WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT
Hi, My name is Nikhil Kamath! For my eight grade passion project this year we have to raise money for a non-profit organization. I chose the Wounded Warriors. Our soldiers fight battles just so that Americans can be safe. While they are out in the field facing bullets, we are safely cuddled in the protection of our home. Unfortunately, these wars have casualties. The Huffington Post states the toll of war in Iraq on the U.S. military the way the Pentagon does: 4,487 dead, and 32,226 wounded. These are soldiers wounded in action, and yet there are many unaccounted warriors who returned from their deployments with traumatic brain injuries, post-traumatic stress, depression, hearing loss, breathing disorders, diseases, and other long-term health problems. The greatest casualty is being forgotten! When they are injured, it is our time to return the favor - We owe it to them to make a full accounting of their sacrifice -- and then never forget it. The Wounded Warriors project serves our wounded heroes with every type of injury – from the physical to the invisible wounds of war and encourages them as they adjust to their new normal through a variety of programs and services from economic empowerment to community engagement. I sincerely hope that you open your hearts and lend a helping hand to our Wounded Warriors with a heart intact!
Sincerely, Nikhil Kamath
