The Wound REACH foundation goal is to raise funds to support wound Research, Education And Clinical Health globally. In resource poor countries, such as Haiti, our aim is to develop sustainable wound care programs by providing health care professionals to educate local health care workers. To send one nurse or doctor to a resource poor country to provide education in providing standard wound care costs $2500. The problem is not just in other countries. Everyone knows someone who has a terrible wound story. In the US, the number of new difficult to heal wounds that develop each year is 2.8 to 5.1 million at a cost of $3-38 billion. Yet, wound care receives little attention compared with other diseases and conditions. Wounds occur in persons of all ages, across all disease conditions, and decrease quality of life. Help us raise funds to improve research on wound healing, provide education on providing quality wound care here and in other countries, and improve care for persons with wounds here and in resource poor countries.
