W O Y Z E C K
Organized by: Stephanie Mareen
EVENT DATE Dec 19, 2015
My name is Stephanie Mareen. I am a third year student in the Drama Division at the Juilliard School in my third year of training. I am lucky to attend a school that trains not only actors, but also musicians and dancers. I decided that it was the perfect opportunity to try out a new way of telling stories in the theater.
The objective of this project is first and foremost to tell Buchner’s riveting story “Woyzeck”. However it is also to challenge and perhaps enlarge the viewer’s notions of the theatre and its potential. This project attempts to connect artistry with entertainment; spectacle with simple truth, uniting dancers, musicians, actors, writers, choreographers, composers, and ultimately the audience. It will strive to create a deeply human as well as deeply artistic experience for everyone involved.
My Company consists of 15 musicians and one composer, 5 dancers and one choreographer as well as 9 actors and a stagemanger and me, the director. We have been working on this project for the past 2 years and have already received a grant supporting this project, however with this many people involved you can imagine the costs for costume and set pieces as well as props - especially since this show is aiming to be an insanely involved piece is really requires a lot of extras that help to set up the atmosphere in the studio.
Your contribution directly supports:
- Custom-made costume pieces
- Materials for set pieces
We need your help. All donations, however great or small, will bring this production to life. We greatly appreciate your help as we embrace the final push to the finish line.
- Every donor will receive a complimentary ticket to one of the showings
- Donors or $50 or more will receive a printed copy of our adaptation signed by the entire cast.
With Kind Regards,
The Whole Woyzeck Company
