Global Development

"Our times demand a new definition of leadership - global leadership. They demand a new constellation of international cooperation - governments, civil society and the private sector, working together for a collective global good." United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Speech at World Economic Forum Davos, Switzerland (29 January 2009)

The World Peace Center Foundation leads the development of the International Center for Peace and Security (ICPS), the first ever permanent global forum for international cooperation for organizations within the international community, to be located in New York City, along with the United Nations.

ICPS is being established for the advancement of international peace and security, international development, humanitarian aid, human rights and sustainable development, introducing a new era of international cooperation for the 21st Century.

ICPS will enable unprecedented global collaboration between organizations in the public, civil and private sectors, on a wide range of areas including poverty eradication, disaster relief, famine, conflict prevention, climate change, global health, water and sanitation, human rights, disarmament, economic development, education and equality.

ICPS will feature a major international office and conference center, a comprehensive infrastructure for international collaboration, global forums in the fields of international affairs, engagement with leading national and international institutions, dedicated real estate and business resources, global connectivity, and support services.

The Center will house a large group of institutions including headquarters and liaison offices for intergovernmental organizations, nongovernmental organizations, bilateral agencies, government agencies, education institutions, think tanks, philanthropic foundations and international charities.

ICPS represents a key infrastructure investment for global development and is developed in accordance with United Nations policies and priority goals, the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), the Post 2015 Global Development Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the New Global Partnership for Development, and is based on consultations and input from the United Nations, leading international organizations, international coalitions, the Governors Office of the State of New York, the Mayor's Office of the City of New York, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and various other agencies and institutions.

Candidate locations include the new World Trade Center in lower Manhattan as well as the new East Side development next to the United Nations headquarters, in New York City.

WPCF is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization responsible for managing ICPS development including design, programs, project management, capacity building, partnerships, global advocacy, financing, real estate and implementation, together with project partners and associated agencies. All donations to WPCF go directly to the implementation of ICPS and will directly impact the results derived from the Center.
