I first met Wren when she was about 3 years old. My girls spotted her playing on the corner at the end of our street and they instantly became friends. Wren loves playing in her front yard or up the street at one of her friends houses. The kids take turns riding on the back of her electric wheelchair, play hide and go seek, and play school.
Wren has a relatively simple childhood wish. She'd like to ride a bicycle with her friends. The challenge is that Wren has a form of muscular dystrophy that keeps her from riding a normal bike. Fortunately her father has identified a modified bicycle that Wren can ride with his assistance. This bicycle not only allows Wren access to the beauty of cycling, it also carries numerous health benefits to strengthen her motor skills, legs, and lungs. In short the physical activity the bicycle encourages will help increase Wren's quality of life.
We are raising funds for a Freedom Concepts Inc ET2611 tandem bicycle that Wren will ride with her Dad. This bike will allow her to ride around with her neighborhood friends and also join her family on longer rides throughout town. Portland has such a proud biking tradition I'm confident between friends and local businesses we can reach our $9K goal!
