BENEFITING: WASHINGTON STREET COMMUNITY CENTER
Our van has given up the ghost! Donated 15 years ago (as its 3rd life), it has gone to its well-deserved rest but left a whole passel of adorable kidlets without transportation. The WSCC provides a number of child programs (Pre-School, Pre-K, Before and After School, Summer and Holiday Camps) and we've always included the fantastic outdoor and cultural resources that Denver has to offer. Fishing trips, the Zoo, Aquarium, Museum of Science and Nature, swimming, Elitch's - everything you wish you could do, right? Well, right now, our kids can't either - and I know that makes you feel terrible. At the very least, you should be able to enjoy their joy and wonder vicariously! We're hoping to raise funds to secure a late model, new-to-us 15 passenger van (with seatbelts and A/C). It will be put to excellent use, every single day. A local auto broker has already pledged up to $10,000 towards a new van, and we'd like to match that. Our children benefit greatly from our various enrichment programs and after school care and your generosity will help ensure that they're exposed to activities that will help them grow as future members of society, paying taxes and eventually supporting their own parents. :-) The WSCC is a 501(c)3 non-profit community center serving populations in the Denver metro region. Our programs extend to kids, seniors, families, and all manner of neighborhood groups. WSCC promotes and encourages diversity and inclusiveness - for instance, we've been home to the Rocky Mountain Rainbeaus for many years. We also have a robust senior program, with visiting nurses, reading and lecture groups, and of course BINGO! Seriously, your donation will enable us to continue our offerings and will make a huge difference in our children's lives. School starts August 24, so we need to get rolling on this!
