With a 60 day $50K goal, we are beginning today March 7!
March 07, 2016
BENEFITING: WOMENS THEATRE FESTIVAL OF MEMPHIS INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 23, 2016
Not having the time to raise funds when there is illness can hurt any project, but the date has now been extended so that we all who are involved can at least see more progress on the fundraiser.
If this funding campaign is successful, I predict that I will never have campaign for funds again, as there will be enough from this one to not only fund WTFM 2016, but to help sponsor theatrical works that will bring continuous funding! Your donation will be much appreciated.
The truth is women being recognized collectively and networking can be wonderful for theatre, as we spend more than men on stage work... we go more than men, and yet this is no competition- but recognition. Ask someone to help with this festival, and you will soon see the festival help many! Youth, seniors, and children who need positive means of expression. Women are the main caregivers- that's a fact. We care about what this theatre festival can mean, and we need the help of everyday people who care... I personally want to see Meryl Streep, Drake- yes the Rapper... challenge all stars of he stage (he did theatre in school) and others to just give $10... more if you want, but give... grants aren't always there, but people are. Tell someone today. It's been extended; ask your friends to get 10 friends to give $10 and so on and so on... it can be done.. Thanks in advance for whatever you do.
HELP A NOT FOR PROFIT ARTS ORGANIZATION THAT ENTERTAINS, HELPS YOUTH, FLEDGING AND EXPERIENCED ARTISTS, AND BRING VISITORS TO OUR CITY FOR AN ENJOYABLE WEEKEND OF CONTINUOUS THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS FOR ALL.

WTFM is an international festival that was birthed by theatre’s greatest gift - imagination. The festival is lead by experienced “daredevil women and men” who are determined, despite challenges, to keep their dream of providing opportunities and showcasing works and talents of women in theatre. The criteria for the submission of plays to the festival are these: 1) A play must be written by a woman 2) or directed by a woman 3) or has a storyline that is about a woman or women’s causes. This, in no way excludes men, as a matter of fact, Camp Logan was presented in our 2014 festival. The play had an all male cast directed by a man but written by a woman, Celeste Bedford Walker.
WTFM is asking for donors to support the WTFM July, 2016 Season III through our 5K for $10 project.
“What is WTFM, and why is it important to women? Why is it important to theatre? Funny, you should ask! WTFM is the Women’s Theatre Festival of Memphis that was founded in 2012 and its purpose is to celebrate and spotlight women in the theatrical arts, while offering personal fulfillment, entertainment, educational & employment opportunities which includes professional work in technical areas of design, lighting, sound, playwriting, dance, music and costuming. WHEW! & WOW! In 2014, WTFM moved from a national festival to an international festival when they hosted and presented a play from Australia at The Circuit Playhouse. The right amount of capital will help WTFM grow even faster-with your donations-the mission will succeed.
Statistics have shown 69% of theatre ticket buyers are women and 63% of theatre audiences are women but only 20% of professional theatre artists are women. We want to increase that number! With the increase in budget and grant funding cuts, there are fewer resources for funding. The founders of WTFM have a no “give up” spirit, so we are asking for the help of 5000 theatre lovers at $10 to help this event move in the direction that will help WTFM be all that it can be. With a volunteer staff of 5, we have worked with a little to bring a lot to the City of Memphis, the state of Tennessee, and America! With your help, the grass roots people, the rich, and the famous giving just $10 each, awareness of the festival will spread even more, and costs from rentals of venues to advertising will bring even more people to this worthy, educational, entertaining and surprising International event. There is a need for basics to be met at this juncture so that we can carry out our mission, which is explained when you log on to womenstheatrefestivalofmemphis.org.
Just imagine 5000 people contributing just $10 to help support WTFM. We imagined it, but imagination just goes so far without capital. We spend $10 or more on fast food, snacks, and tips! Donate, please, then plan your summer in Memphis, TN, July 10-16, 2016.
Thank you in advance for paying it forward. WTFM is a 501c-3 not for profit organization. If Theatre’s been good to you - be good to WTFM.
I thank you in advance for all that you WILL do and encourage others to do.
