Women Under Forty PAC - Marine Corps Marathon 2014
Organized by: Nick Stewart
EVENT DATE Oct 26, 2014
The freedom to vote is your chance to influence something bigger than yourself. We all should want to cast that vote on a ballot that gives us the maximum opportunity to express ourselves. This expression can more easily happen if we are presented a ballot that reflects our diversity - in color, in creed, and in gender.
The female voting population slightly outnumbers the male voting population. However, a huge difference exists in the number of male and female candidates for elected office.
Encouraging more women to pursue positions of leadership in government gives you - the American voter - the opportunity to choose from a pool of candidates that more closely represents who you are. That can only lead to good things.
The Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC) works toward a more diverse election day ballot - a ballot that not only makes the competition for office more challenging, but also enhances how your vote expresses your individual desires.
WUFPAC doesn't seek to encourage Democratic females to pursue public office. WUFPAC doesn't seek to encourage Republican females to pursue public office. WUFPAC seeks to encourage young WOMEN to pursue public office. My girlfriend Lauren Toomey has shown me the importance of being able to choose from a diverse field of candidates when the time comes to cast my vote.
I am proud to run Sunday's Marine Corps Marathon in support of her and her colleagues' efforts on WUFPAC's board of directors. My fundraising goal is $500, so please join this cause by either contributing what you can, by sharing through social media, or both!
