BENEFITING: WAKE UP NARCOLEPSY INC
ORGANIZER: WAKE UP NARCOLEPSY INC
EVENT: Boston Marathon 2014
EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2014
Principal, Cosmos Strategies
Newmarket, Ontario, Canada
My fundraising goal: $5,000
On April 21 I‘ll be going to the starting line in Hopkinton to benefit Wake Up Narcolepsy’s mission to speed narcolepsy diagnosis through greater awareness, and raising much-needed funds for medical research.
I heard about the opportunity to run as a WUNner through my friend Kelly, a friend of Gordon Gow, Chairman of Wake Up Narcolepsy Canada.
Running in the Boston Marathon has been a goal of mine since I started running. Being able to support such a great cause in what promises to be a special race only makes it that much better.
The 2014 Boston Marathon will be my third marathon. My goal is 3:25. My best marathon was my last one, the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on October 20, 2013. I stayed with a pace bunny for the first 28K, and it worked! I cruised for the first 28K, and then pushed it up a notch, crossing the finish line in 3 hours and 37 minutes.
Living in Canada, probably my toughest obstacle is finding the time to train properly throughout what is normally a brutal winter. April will be here before we know it. And of course on raceday I’ll be working hard on Heartbreak Hill and downhill to the finish. I know from experience how satisfying it feels to make it through a tough course like Boston. And with your generous support, I’ll know the satisfaction of advancing the work of WUN.
By donating today, you’ll be supporting the untiring work of WUN. You’ll be helping people everywhere whose lives have been turned upside down by the debilitating symptoms of narcolepsy.
Thank you for your support!
PS: Your support is greatly needed as we try to raise awareness and fund research to help people who suffer from this awful neurological disorder.
Note to Canadian donors: Thank you for your generous donation! You will receive a tax receipt at the conclusion of the 2014 Boston Marathon. This receipt will come from Sick Kids Foundation/Wake Up Narcolepsy Sleep Disorder Fund. Wake Up Narcolepsy donates marathon contributions from Canadian residents to this nonprofit foundation. If you have questions about this procedure, please contact Kathi Wagner at WUN, 630-379-2976 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
