BENEFITING: World Vision USA
More than 50 million people are bracing for Hurricane Sandy as it closes in on the eastern United States. The storm has already swept through the Caribbean, producing torrential downpours and 80-mph winds.
Sandy is expected to make landfall somewhere between Maryland and southern New England Monday evening or Tuesday morning, then merge with two other winter systems, creating a rare hybrid “super storm,” forecasters said.
Thousands were evacuated from coastal communities and governors across the region declared states of emergency.
New York City has suspended subway, bus, and commuter train service.
Praying for the best, prepared for the worst.
To meet the potential threat, World Vision will dispatch flood clean-up kits from our Dallas disaster response headquarters to bolster emergency supplies already pre-positioned in New York. The flood clean-up kits include buckets, mops, gloves, face masks, and cleaning supplies.
They also have further supplies pre-positioned in Washington, D.C., should they become necessary.
