WWII Veteran Dream Come True
Organized by: KIm Jakeway
Our goal is to find and restore a 1929 Chevrolet Cabriolet that he owned before going to war. He enlisted in 1942 and served in the 82nd Airborne until he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. His family received several letters that he was missing in action and presumed dead. His family needed the money to support eight kids, so they sold his car. My father returned to his community with the promise he had made with the Lord, to help the youth, senior citizens, and the handicapped, any way that he could. He still raises money for the American Legion, Toy's for Tots, local schools and several individual groups. I would love to see him have this opportunity, before time takes this hero from us, to drive his 1929 classic in military parades and memorials in that car he lost in his youth. He frequently speaks to high school students, senior citizen homes, civic groups and various organizations for free. I am so proud to call him my father.
