CAHS uniquely combines outreach at the neighborhood level with broad-based policy work at the state and federal level. Our outreach helps families build the skills they need for lasting economic success. Our policy work helps them move from poverty to prosperity.
Together, with our nonprofit partners we expand access to public benefits. With EarnBenefits online, we screen for 13 public benefits silmultaneiously.
We run The CT Money School, www.ctmoney.org, which provides free finanical education to adults and seniors throughout the state. CAHS acts as a catalyst along with other New England policy leaderst to reduce poverty through strategic state and federal policy prorities. We provide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for low-wage workers at many sites throughout the state. We are the Annie E. Casey granteet for CT Kids Count, a biennually published data and policy book with town-level indicators and an essay about timely policy issues affecting children and families.
