Citizens Advocacy Research and Education for Mental Health

A newly established organisation for people who unexpectedly find themselves having to negotiate their way through the Mental Health Services without assistance. It can be an overwhelming experience. Anyone at any time in their life can experience and episode of depression, anxiety, phobia or one of the 260 diagnoses (including addiction to computer games) and growing. It is not a lifestyle choice but is thrust upon you, perhaps a work accident, loss of a loved one, job, health diagnosis, stress, bullying, body image, the list is endless.
Assistance from a trained advocate who has had experience of the Mental Health Services or consultations with a psychiatrist, or mental health worker can just take all the worry and anxiety out of the process for you and your family.
Advocacy services are not to be funded in the future under the NDIS. Hence CARE was born to assist people in having an equitable power relationship with their treating Doctor or Psychiatrist and the capacity to make decisions relating to their care and treatment. We also have a fun side, a Social Club to enable people to enjoy social activities, make friends and have a good time. CARE is all volunteers, unfunded and could do with a little financial assistance to cover the cost of the Advocates fuel when attending to clients and assist in costs associated with social activities. You just don't know, when you may need our help! Five thousand people donating $1 could significantly change many, many, lives.
