EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2012
A group of 12 women led by Lisa Rueff (Yoga Ventures) went to Haiti in March 2012. We spent most of our time in Jacmel, a small coastal town south of Port-au-Prince.
What we saw astounded us. The effects of the 2010 earthquake were enormous, not to mention the desperate need for clean water, food and supplies for orphanages to care for their children. Before that trip I did a bit of fundraising and funded the build of a home for a little boy Jeff, who lost his house and parents in the quake. We also brought lots of things for the orphans -- soccer balls, hoola hoops, hats, sunglasses, etc.
We are going back to Haiti in October 2012. With a bit more time ahead of me, I'd like to see how much money I can raise to bring down. Every single cent of this money will go towards helping improve lives there. If we can help get a few more children out of tents and into homes, what a huge difference that would be!
