Xavier Gell 2016 NYS Swimming Championships in Buffalo, NY
Organized by: Gell Family
Xavier Gell will be competing at the 2016 New York State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships, in Buffalo, NY on March 3 - 5, 2016. Yes, the date is just around the corner! Xavier made state cut times and qualified for two events in the State Meet this past Saturday, 2/20 at Sectionals, in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay for Lansing, NY High School. The Lansing Bobcats also took 1st place in Sectionals, Section IV, Class C , as well as 1st at IAC's previously. Going to States is a costly experience which the family cannot fully afford at this time. The money raised will be used for swim gear that Xavier needs, most importantly a Technical Racing Suit, which are extremely costly, but standard for competition, and can have a significant impact on performance. And a new cap and new goggles are warranted. In addition, funds would contribute toward related travel and miscellaneous expenses for him that the school does not cover, as well as for his family to be able to travel and attend to support him. These tech suits, which are standard for this level of competition, run from mid to high end, at $200 - $450, or more. As he is a part of Relay Teams, it goes without saying that his performance affects the team results as a whole, and the other team members swim career records and accomplishments, and would not want to be the weakest link by being unprepared without proper equipment. The others already have the appropriate gear, and Xavier would like to be able to complete at an equal advantage for the team and contribute to the best of his ability toward their best performance. He has worked long and hard for this opportunity, practice 6 days a week, and is in 3 AP (Advanced Placement) classes, and has maintained a High Honors Academic record as well. If you know Xavier, you know he puts his heart and sole into everything he does, and is so completely worthy and deserving of being rewarded for all his hard work and accomplishements.
(If you prefer not to read the entire story, PLEASE skip to the final paragraph.)
Funds will also be contributed toward the family expenses to to travel and support him, include hotel, meals, parking, gas, admission costs, and the possible need for a car rental, etc. It would mean the world to Xavier to go this State Championship meet fully prepared, with every advantage, and to be able to fully support his fellow team mates. In addition, to have his family there to share and support him would be invaluable. This will be the experience of a life time, which he will always remember. Your support would be so much appreciated. If you are interested, you may even be able to watch the Championship online live feed broadcast from the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY. I will post the website address when I find out what it is. I know this sounds like a lot of help being asked, and I don't expect to reach our goal completely, but every little bit will help.
Admittedly, it is uncomfortable alerting friends and family of the need for help, therefore this link has only been sent to a select few, not to a mass of people, and not broadcast to the community. If you have recieved this, it is because you are someone we though might care about Xavier, would be understanding, and enjoys seeing kids working hard and reaching their potential, and may want to donate to the cause.
Your support would be so much appreciated.
