This year I'm using my birthday to raise some money towards a good cause. Gifts are awesome, I'm not going to deny the fact that I like to indulge in materialistic pursuits from time to time, but I thought it'd be even more awesome to do something different considering how ridiculously spoiled we actually are and don't even realize it.
So I was trying to think of which charity would be a good one to focus on and after some thinking, I chose Amnesty International Canada. Why? Well, let me start by saying this, the older I get, the more cynical I become. Oftentimes I say, Damn, I really hate human beings sometimes. And these misanthropic feelings are a result of all the incredibly shitty things we all do to one another on a daily basis. Every day I read something shocking or appalling about someone hurting someone else, whether it be physically, emotionally, spiritually. It pisses me off and saddens me at the same time. But then, I hear something that restores my faith in the human race yet again. It's a continual back and forth. So what better way
P.S. If you really want to give me a gift because I'm just THAT amazing, go ahead, I'll accept it with open arms :) ...but not before you give to someone who needs it more.
