BENEFITING: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
EVENT DATE: Sep 28, 2013
On September 28, 2013, Dianne and I will be hiking in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Xtreme Hike for the Cure, a ONE day 31-mile hike on Virginia's Massanutten Mountain Trail. Let me repeat...31-MILES IN ONE DAY.
Dianne and I have been involved in the CF community since one of her 3rd grade students was diagnosed with the disease 8 years ago. Today, she's a junior at Thomas Dale High School in Chester, VA, and is trying to live the life of a normal teenage girl— but it's been hard for her to ignore the statistics. The average life expectancy of a CF patient is 35. The good news is that the life expectancy was 18-years old only a decade ago— CF research has made monumental gains, but there's still no cure and more can be done.
Our goal is to raise over $5,000 for cystic fibrosis research-- and with your support, we're going to make this happen. Please consider supporting us with a donation--or just simple words of encouragement-- as we embark on this challenge.
Thank you for your help!
