Vince Yackery, a Merrill Lynch colleague of mine for several decades and father of a classmate of my daughters Nina and Aliosn, suffered an unexpected accident several months ago that has left him a quadriplegic. My daughter Nina and I are raising money to help defray the cost of his care and rehabilitation. Vince is a hard working, religiously dedicated family man and is currently bound to a wheelchair and hospital bed, for the first time in his life dependent on the care of others. Up until now, you could count on Vince to be up before the sun, working out and headed to the train by 6 a.m. Ironicly, it was a fall from his exersise equipment that caused his injury. Now a quadriplegic, he is redirecting that focus to his intensive therapy and rehabilitation program.
In spite of the many struggles he and our family face, Vince remains hopeful that he will return to a productive life with the continued support of family and friends. His family is preparing to make several home modifications in order to make it handicap accessible, and purchase a specialized vehicle that will provide him with greater mobility and independence.
In order to make Vince’s new dreams possible, a fundraising campaign has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those who have sustained a catastrophic injury. All contributions are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Spinal Cord Injury Fund, and administered by HelpHOPELive for injury-related expenses only.
Please consider making a donation to help the Yackery family.
