The US Delegation to the Y8 Summit needs your support!
Each year, Young Americans for Diplomatic Leadership sends a delegation of students and young professionals to the Y8 Summit. At the summit, delegates from each of the G8 countries negotiate on key international issues related to diplomacy, defense, justice, development, and environment, and formulate policy recommendations in the form of a communique for presentation to their home governments. In the process, they gain valuable skills in international diplomacy, are exposed to excellent networking opportunities, and are able to explore the host city with their counterparts from around the world. The Y8 is ultimately a unique opportunity for young leaders from across the globe to interact with each other and gain perspectives that will inform their future careers.
This year, we will be sending a team of eight outstanding students and young professionals to London, United Kingdom in late June to participate in the Y8. They come from a variety of leading US universities, and were chosen by a rigorous selection process in January 2013.
For the past several months, our team has been eagerly preparing for their participation in this year's summit. They have developed the topics around which each of their committees will negotiate, and are beginning to develop relationships with their counterparts in the UK and other G8 and G20 countries.
In order to make the trip possible for our team, fundraising is key to financing our team's travel, lodgings, delegate fees, and training costs, which will run over one thousand dollars per person. We would greatly appreciate your support of our team in this exciting opportunity!
All of our supporters will receive updates prior to and during the Summit about our delegates. Broader sponsorship opportunities are also available, and those interested should reach out to Bo Gilliam, our Director of Development, via email at email@example.com
Thank you for your consideration!!
