ORGANIZER: HUMANE SOCIETY OF CENTRAL WASHINGTON-SPCA
I cant believe that I have been here with Yakima Humane Society for 9 months already. I love this organization and all that we do for the animals of this community. My roll here as Medical Director is to see to the physical needs of the pets in our care. We have opened our Spay & Neuter Clinic to provide surgical care for shelter animals, owned pets, and the unowned community cats of Yakima County. In the last 7 months I have performed more than 3,100 spays and neuters!! I am also able to provide both emergency and routine care for the pets who are waiting to get homes. It is such rewarding work and we really are making a difference.
There are so many memorable pets I have seen, but here is one of them that has really stuck with me. Sammy (little red dog in the pictures) came to the shelter as a stray and was rushed over to clinic for medical attention. He was terrified and had a severe eye injury. I removed his blind and painful eye and treated his infection. But what took the longest was regaining his trust. I finally convinced him that I wasn't going to hurt him with pure bribery of pizza crust. After that revelation, he turned into a sweet, loving pup. Healed medically and mentally he found a perfect new home.
THIS is why we do what we do. And your donation lest us keep doing it.
