BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
On 11/02, if everything works as planned, I should cross the finish line of my first marathon. Running the NYC Marathon was high up on my bucket list and it was almost a two year journey to get there (In 2013 I had to run 9 races and volunteered once (9+1) to qualify for it).
Motivated by my partner in crime/life, Rachel; we thought about making this run a bit more special. We decided to support the Alzheimer’s foundation as both of our families have a long history with Alzheimer’s.
My grandmother has been suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s for more than three years. She currently doesn’t recognize me or my family, and forgets everything that I tell her after about three minutes. As much as this disease does not cause physical pain, its impact to the patient’s family and loved ones is insurmountable. In many ways we have lost the person we knew and loved.
If you decide to donate, your donation will go towards a good cause by helping fund research or help a patient in need. Not only this, but it will motivate me not to give up crossing the 21M wall :)
Thank you for your support,
Yoni and Rachel
