Dear friends and family,
I am running the Savin Rock Half Marathon on April 1 with a group of Yalies to raise funds for a local nonprofit organization called the Fair Haven Community Health Center. It’s an incredible organization that provides comprehensive primary care services at low- or no-cost. Specifically, we are raising funds for their school-based health centers.
All of my life, I have had ready access to stable healthcare from practitioners my family trusted and could afford. Primary care, like that which I had access to, is essential to ensure that students are healthy enough to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
These school-based centers operate in five New Haven schools and staff a nurse practitioner, office manager, and clinical social worker onsite so students can be seen by a clinician for their primary healthcare needs right at school. Like I mentioned above, these services have significant impacts on children's physical and general well-being, but also are especially vital in New Haven schools, where many students come from low-income households and may not receive primary health services otherwise.
I hope that you may join me in supporting Fair Haven Community Health Center's critical work. Even donating the equivalent of a cup of coffee (~$2.50) will help make a difference and be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for visiting, learning about the cause, and, if you are able to, contributing to help sustain these centers.
