Yana Tolmacheva was born in Moscow, Russia and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she currently lives. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Hunter College and is a graduate of Brandeis University receiving her MBA in Nonprofit Management and MA in Jewish Professional Leadership.
Yana currently works at Moishe House, a nonprofit dedicated to young adult community building and leadership development as the Director of Russian-speaking Programming. She is blessed to combine her personal and professional interests through her work and appreciates the opportunity to fundraise through boxing as part of the Fighters 4 Life event.
When not working or training at Church St Boxing Gym, Yana can be found traveling. She has spent extensive time in Latin America, Israel, and the Former Soviet Union and loves to travel any chance she can.
Yana started boxing about a year ago when she moved from fitness to a real desire to study the sport and compete. She is motivated by the challenge of boxing- physical, emotional, and mental and is driven to overcome her own obstacles. "We are all fighting- everyday. Boxing is an analogy for life- some of us fight to survive, some of us fight to win- but we are all fighting. Boxing forces me to go beyond my limit, overcome my doubt, and grow daily into a confident strong woman"
Yana is excited for her first fight experience.
