BENEFITING: UNICEF USA
South Sudan is currently suffering from the worst food shortage in the world, due to a civil war and a drought. If actions aren't taken to allievate the matter, the country will be entrenched in a full blown famine in just a few months. 3.75 million South Sudanese children are at risk of experiencing violence, disease and hunger. Kids who have fled their home in search of a safer place to stay lack water, health care and food. 250 thousand children in South Sudan are dealing with acute malnutrition and if there isn't a dramatic increase in donations for these kids, 50 thousand of them may die by this years end. UNICEF is collecting donations on behalf of these children; the donations they collect go towards immunization, nutrition, food security, water and sanitation for the kids in South Sudan who are in need.
We are all guilty of wasting food. A lot of times we leave almost half of our plates unfinished and garbage what ever we have left over. When we go out to restaurants we too often spend 40 dollars on just one meal when we could have easily filled our stomachs by spending less. We spend a lot of money on things we don't need, so we might as well donate some of that money to give services to kids who actually need it. Kindness is a choice, and the choice is yours.
