Youth Empowered Action (YEA) is a leadership program for teens who want to change the world, and we are embarking on a significant expansion this year. We are adding a fourth session of YEA Camp this summer, including one on the east coast in New Jersey, and larger sessions in Oregon and California. We expect to almost double the total number of youth we reach this summer over last year. We are also thrilled to be launching a monthly Saturday day-long workshop called YEA Academy in Portland, OR, where youth can come for a Day of YEA! Like our flagship camp, YEA Academy focuses on developing participants' knowledge, skills, confidence and community so they can make a big difference on the issues that matter most to them, from climate change to racism to factory farming to homophobia. This program will be expanded to other cities when we obtain sufficient funding.
This fundraising initiative will allow us to expand our programs while continuing to be financially accessible to youth of all socio-economic backgrounds. Specifically, these funds would be used to pay for deposits on our camp venues and for launching the monthly YEA Academy workshops.
YEA is fiscally sponsored by Earth Island Institute, all donations will be processed by them.
