EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
The outdoors have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember (and before that). My first time on skis was at the ripe age of one. As a toddler, my parents brought me hiking and canoeing. My experiences in the outdoors greatly influenced the person I have become and taught me myriad lessons in perspective, humility, and tenacity. Of course, these experiences were largely made possible by my privileged upbringing. So many children (and adults) are denied the opportunity for outdoor recreation because they lack the resources to do so. Throughout college, I worked for Colorado College's Outdoor Recreation Club and the CC Learning Initiative in the Mountains in an effort to get as many people into the outdoors as possible. Now that i am back in Boston, I am becoming acquainted with the work of YES through my family, who has been involved with the organization for years. For over four decades, YES has extended the opportunity for outdoor engagement to thousands of kids. Through their programs, Boston's youths are building confidence, friendships, and skill sets that they would not otherwise have. This is incredible and important work and I am proud to be running for YES.

Team YES is running the 2017 Boston Marathon to raise funds to support YES's mission.
YES's 2016 Boston Marathon team raised over $40,000 with a team of four runners. We look forward to raising even more money for Boston youth with four new team members running for Team YES in 2017. All funds raised will be used to fund and expand after-school and outdoor programs for the Boston youth who need it most.
