EVENT DATE: Apr 21, 2013
Dear Family and Friends.
Having just been on an amazing safari with my family in South Africa, it is so fitting for me to have selected Tusk as my fundraising charity for the London Marathon I'm running this April. The beauty and richness of Africa's wildlife needs to be preserved for generations to come. Plus, as a now "Londoner", if Prince William is a major supporter of Tusk, then so am I.
Tusk's mission is to deliver effective protection for Africa's wildlife and natural heritage in conjunction with sustainable development and environmental education programs, which are designed to help alleviate poverty amongst rural communities.
Tusk has built a reputation for identifying and supporting an impressive range of sustainable community development and conservation initiatives right across Africa. The Charity, whose Royal Patron is Prince William, invests in programmes, which use conservation as a tool to alleviate poverty, improve education and reduce conflict, whilst also protecting areas rich in biodiversity. Funding is focused on the protection of endangered species and habitats, construction of schools, implementation of water projects and improving livelihoods through the creation of nature-based enterprise. Tusk is highly efficient in delivering donor funds with the maximum possible impact.
I greatly appreciate your support for this charity and my efforts to run yet another fun marathon.
p.s. My son, William, was face to face with this beautiful leopard on our safari and snapped this photo. I had to reduce the megabytes to upload so the photo looks slightly distorted.
