BENEFITING: YUGNTRUF-YOUTH FOR YIDDISH INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 30, 2013
Students at Yiddish Farm Summer Program spend up to 11 weeks living, studying, working the land, and celebrating in a 100% Yiddish-immersion environment. They graduate as proficient Yiddish speakers able to read literature, sing and act in Yiddish. They emerge with a deeper connection to nature, an enhanced Jewish identity and a new group of peers with whom to speak Yiddish.
Our fields of garlic have sprouted, and we plan to harvest 10,000 pounds of organic hardneck garlic during the second half of July. In order to store and dry the garlic, we need your help to build a pole barn. The cost of the barn is around $20,000 ($10,000 for materials and $10,000 for labor). Helping us build this barn will help make our community and our work more sustainable so that we can continue to pass on the cultural treasures of our grandparents and great-grandparents.
We have some great prizes available for various levels of giving.
$36: receives a container of garlic scape pesto with a bilingual hand-written thank-you note
$72: receives above prize + Yiddish Farm bencher
$108: receives all of the above + a basket of fresh garlic
$180: receives all of the above + a pasture-raised chicken (chasidishe shechitta)
$360: receives all of the above + a pasture-raised goose
$1800: receives all of the above + a plaque on the barn
Please help us build a Yiddish Barn for our harvest!
