One More Day Until Pat's Run 2016!
April 22, 2016
Hello friends, family, and colleagues!
As many of you know I run Pat's Run every year and am an avid motivator to get others to run/walk Pat's Run too. I feel every year's Pat's Run is an eye opening moment where you can witness the impact one person can have. I invite you to become a part of that legacy, Pat's legacy.
Pat's Run every year is important to me because I went to school with Pat. No, we didn't have the same teacher nor did I sit in a desk next to his. I was in the Sun Devil Marching Band when Pat Tillman was on the Arizona State University football team. Four years of marching band in high school and four years of marching band in college I never saw anything like it...a football player leave the field to come to the stands and thank the band for their hard work and support. That was Pat Tillman to me. He may have forged his own path, but wow! What an impact he made by his actions!
This past year I have really kicked up my committment to running. It all started after last year's Pat's Run. And I never stopped. I even completed my first ever half marathon wearing my NEVER STOP Pat's Run t-shirt. I feel it's time to give back and kick up my participation in Pat's honor. This year will be my 11th year running Pat's Run, 10th year volunteering, and first year fundraising for the Tillman Scholars.
But wait! There's more! To demonstrate how seriously I am taking this endeavor I am putting my pride and ego on the line. I know that amongst my friends and family I have a good mix of ASU alumni and alumni from that school down south that shall not be named. Here's where it gets interesting. For every $10 you donate you may vote ASU or UofA (be sure to specify in the comments after you donate). On April 23rd 2016, after tallying up the votes, I will wear the winning school's shirt during Pat's Run as well as post a profile picture of me in that shirt for 24 hours on Facebook. Am I worried? Sure! There's a lot at stake here. But deep down I know I'll be ok. Have you met my boyfriend?!
