The Yoga Medicine organization in involved with several foundations who work to support the global community, reaching far beyond just their exceptional and unique yoga teacher trainings. The Yoga Medicine Seva Foundation works to specifically address the human trafficking and sexual exploitation of impoverished women and children living in India. "This year, Yoga Medicine’s Seva Foundation is working with Her Future Coalition and Rescue Foundation to establish a new shelter 45 miles outside of New Delhi, near a Red Light District. This newly constructed shelter is scheduled to open its doors to survivors of human trafficking in 2017 and will house over 100 women and children." The overall extent of this epidemic is staggering, which is why it's of paramount importance that we make a conscious and active effort to take steps to support those who are in desperate need of our aid. The American dollar stretches infinitely far in India; The $100 that we may casually spend on a dinner out with friends, we can use to offer one woman a full vocational training, leaving her with the ability to support herself and her children. All donations will collaboratively offer food, clothing, shelter, health care, educational and vocational training, and emotional rehabilitation through counseling, meditation, yoga, and community. Top Fundraisers will be offered the opportunity to travel to the new shelter in New Delhi in January of 2018, to work on a volunteer-based mission of offering aid and support to those in need. My hope is to raise enough funds to offer the foundation a solid leg-up on their goal, as well as leaving myself with the opportunity to travel to the birthplace of yoga, working in service of the community.
